Recently, I attended a breast cancer awareness gala. When I arrived, the valet approached my car and I informed him I wanted to park it myself because I didn’t want to wait in the line when it was over. He said, “Okay, but I want you to know it’s complimentary. The host was gracious to provide it.” Thank you, sir but it’s fine. Then he said, “It may rain when you leave so you may want to reconsider.” Aww, I appreciate your concern but I’ll be okay. Plus, I was just caught in the rain at the drug store 10 minutes ago.
After the gala, we all went downstairs to the parking area. I looked outside and it was raining…HARD. For a moment, I regretted my earlier decision but I had to live with it. I walked outside without an umbrella and twirled my way to my car. It was the first time in a long time that I did something that made me feel like a kid again. In that moment, I didn’t care that I had on a fancy dress. I just enjoyed being in the moment.
When you have time, reflect on the following questions:
Q: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WERE CHILD-LIKE?
Q: WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU WERE FULLY PRESENT IN THE MOMENT?
