Last week, I won tickets to a musical concert from a local radio station. I was so excited because one of the performers is my favorite male R&B singer. However, this wasn't the first time I'd won something from the radio station. Actually, I win quite often. I've won tickets to comedy shows, concerts, CDs, etc. Because of my success on the radio, people ask me, "How is it that you keep winning? What exactly are you doing?" I respond the best way I know how, "I keep winning because I keep participating.” I participate in many of the various contests they have. If they ask listeners to call the station, I call. If they ask the listeners to text them, I text. I win because I am an active participant. Sounds simple, right? What I know for sure is that if I don't participate then there's no chance of me winning.
Flip this on life. In order to win in life, you have to be an active participant. You have to participate in your life. You can't sit on the sidelines and think you're going to have this great, fabulous life if you're not actively participating in it. If you want to win, if you want to have the life you love, desire and deserve, then you have to participate and make it happen.
I want to share with you the following 7 tips to help you win in life:
Tip #1: Believe in Yourself. Affirm yourself and know that you can do or be anything you set your mind to.
Tip #2: Be Intentional. Set goals and take action to achieve them. Work at them everyday.
Tip #3: Be a Student. Continue to learn, especially from your failures. Grow. Stretch. Be.
Tip #4: Be a Risk Taker. Don’t be afraid to fail. Failure serves as a lesson. Learn from it.
Tip #5: Be Non-Negotiable. Have a burning desire to achieve success/significance and go after it. Act as if your (or someone else’s) life depends on it.
Tip #6: Be Significant. Make a difference. Live a life that matters to you and to others.
Tip #7: BE HAPPY! Happiness is a choice…and a practice. Choose wisely…daily.
